Category III is the equivalent of certificate 18 rated film.
It’s a Hong Kong rated system. There are more Category 3 rated HK films like Her Vengeance, Devil Fetus, Horrible High Heels, Sex and Zen, Men Behind the Sun, etc.
HKMDB has a trove of Chinese/Taiwanese/Hing Kong films.
Forgive my ignorance, but what exactly does Category III and Category II mean?
Are these sequels or is one of these a cut-down version of the other? I’ve never seen these terms before.
Category III version more nudity
Category II version less or no nudity
2 versions for different audience with few different scenes
In this case, the choice of the “censored” and “uncensored” version isn’t as clear-cut as usual, since no print exists anymore of the CAT3 version (and may never have, it may have only ever been cut that way on video?) The new distributor reconstructed this CAT3 edit from the existing film master of the theatrical cut and then about 10 minutes of footage from a surviving VHS/LD copy with CAT3 footage. Scenes with nudity were originally filmed both ways specifically for each version, so both versions are intact versions, just using different takes of the scenes. Thus the CAT2 version here is at full BD quality throughout, while the CAT3 version sometimes jumps to VHS quality but the blurry stuff contains nudity. If you want the story and action, go CAT2, but if you want wacky wildness and can handle some rough picture, go CAT3.
