There wasn’t a Part 2. Mel Brooks never intended to make a Part 2. The title comes from taking the mick out of the sequels, and sequels of sequels that were beginning to be churned out at that time. (Eg. Star Wars and Superman to name just two).
No! That’s exactly what they’d be expecting them to do! :)
