While the first film is excellent, I still like this to a degree. The cinematography is gorgeous, which makes the rest of the film very “frustrating” to put it mildly.

Mulcahy could have dealt with the ozone plot first, and had alien immortals coming to Earth for sanctuary, restarting The Game. Connery could have still had a cameo, as I felt that the Immortals absorbed the souls of those they killed, so Connor could have been talking to him, as Ramirez’s soul would be inside of him.

Ah well. I wonder if the cinematographer for this also did “Death Machine”…

apparently, there are as many as 6 cuts of the film out there (or at least releases). A channel on Youtube did a comparison between all of the different versions of “Ramirez’s death” and there were 6 versions, with slightly different edits, color timing and contrast levels.

Any chance for an uptade with at least theatrical cut in hd or at least DVDRip?

  3. Lisandro says:

I’ve never seen the sequel, so I’m looking forward to watch this Renegade/Director’s Cut.

That being said, it would be great if you could get your hands on the original theatrical release dear Rarelust, since it looks kinda lost, according to Wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highlander_II:_The_Quickening#Renegade_Version): “In 1995, Mulcahy made a director’s cut version known as the Renegade Version, which became the main version of the film available as the original theatrical cut did not have enough demand to warrant further production for home media. As a result, many fans in later years were only able to find the Renegade Version for viewing rather than the original theatrical release”

It would be great to have both the original version and the Renegade version here! For the meantime, many thanks for uploading this one!

  4. Darth Zeppo says:

Is the director’s cut the same as the Renegade Version?

  5. carlos titte says:

do you know if there’s an hd version of the 86-minute cut? i have a craplousy dvdrip of that but no hd.

  6. Tracey W Smith says:

The most disappointing movie I ever sat through in a theater, until I saw The Rise of Skywalker. Michael Ironside is having himself a great time in it though, and 35 years later, it might be a camp-classic?

    • Jesse Baker says:

Not really. The Renegade/Director’s Cut did a little bit to salvage the film’s reputation as did the 00s era films, but in general it’s still widely reviled and why a lot of people prefer to ignore all of the films and treat the 90s TV series as the only version of Highlander that matters/exists.

  7. Tony says:

The much-maligned sequel I’ve never seen. Thanks for a quality edition of the Director’s Cut. I’m still curious about anything by Mulcahy.
