A fun note for those watching this neat Film Noir – Watch for a young Jack Webb as a Police Evidence Specialist, gathering Forensic Data at a Crime Scene.
A number of Los Angeles Police Officers and Detectives were on the set as technical advisors, including some who had worked on the case that the movie was based on. Webb got to talking with them and decided that a Radio Drama series based on real LAPD investigations might be a solid idea. The new show ended up becoming a reality, and Webb called it “Dragnet.” In a way, this movie inspired the birth of the modern Police Procedural series, as “Dragnet” eventually jumped from Radio to Television. Launching Webb’s career as a TV Producer in the process.
Excellent upgrade of a forgotten thriller :)
Thanks again, RL!
