Thank you!!!
Thanks for sharing.
One of my favs! Thanks RL
Thank you for Fulfilling my request! :-)
Been a fan of this movie since I was a kid. I never thought I’d see the original theatrical version again. Just one request: Is it possible to re-post the deleted scenes video file without the directors commentary (or with original audio option)? The commentary doesn’t seem to be removable on the version posted here. Thanks for posting.
no audio in deleted scenes thats why commentary by Joe Dante playing by default
Deleted Scenes (SD, 34 Mins.) – Who would have thought that there were over thirty minutes of deleted scenes from Explorers? There was and it tackled some heavy elements and became almost a different kind of film. These scenes are in extremely rough shape, but despite that, each of the scenes is presented here and gives some excellent insight into how complex the filmmakers wanted to go with this movie. Additionally, there is an optional commentary track from director Joe Dante through the entire array of deleted scenes as he talks about how and why these scenes were made and why they were ultimately left out.
I’m not surprised there’s a lot of deleted scenes as the movie feels to me like it’s missing almost an entire third act.
Dante is on record as saying they were writing as they went (the movie bore no resemblance to the initial script), so the third act wasn’t ready. Then the studio moved up the release date and told him to just go with what he had. He protested saying he still had a lot to shoot, but they just told him to stop where he was and edit it. I think he lost several weeks. He views the film as unfinished and a rough cut.
There were even more deleted scenes as the version Joe took these from was an already cut version of the film…
Actually, there is original audio for the deleted scenes, but only the commentary track was included in the file available here. You can watch the scenes with the original audio on YouTube: https://youtu.be/5vgeGnAjzU8
