Excellent film, worth watching many times over.
The sculptor Rubek and his half mad model Irene, mentioned by Frenhofer in the film, are drawn from the Ibsen play “When We Dead Awaken”.
They appear as Arnold Rubek and his, also half mad, model Irena.
In the play, as well as alluded to in the film, Rubek and Irena die in an avalanche
