Clearly made in the spirit of (or at least to profit from) the iconic and successful “Emanuelle” and similar movies of the earlier softsex genre, “Catherine Cherie” is never close to the lascivious mood and the great photography of the original. But from the start there’s supple nudity (even full frontal male). The lurid promo text is positively exaggerated. Catherine isn’t a rising star, not scheming or cunning, but carefree, pampered and simple. Probably for lack of plot and action the film is turned into a sex-and-crime in the last part.
Picture quality is OK, but faded colours. Sound is not too bad, but makes me wish there were subtitles available. Unfortunately I couldn’t find any, let alone discover the dubbed German or French version.
