Thank you for this. Everyone in Britain should see this well acted gem instead of the dross the Beeb screen today. Excellent topical social comment. A real classic that makes one realise what Britain has lost in a mere 40+ years.
I agree with Sean. Now I want to see the 1982 Sting version. Interesting to see Denholm Elliot in both versions.
BTW the IMDB also has this earlier TV version dated incorretly as 1987, rather than 1976..
The 1982 film version starring Sting would be a perfect companion piece to this teleplay. Just a thought.
