Wow, an early Alex Proyas work! I thought he just did music videos and commercials before The Crow and Dark City, this is a surprise to me and I’m eager to check it out.
Another early work from a stylist director of the music video era which Rarelust may want to track down is Shopping, by Paul W.S. Anderson. PWSA has a (deservedly) treacherous reputation for all his action movies and video game cash-ins, but he seemed to be a promising voice in film with Event Horizon released within a year of Proyas’ Dark City. Neither career really lived up to the promise of the early work, but it’s worth seeing stuff like this from back when new cutting edges were being sharpened.
incredible sounds and atmosphere. over-the-top and restrained at the same time. a really great movie.
An amazing, wonderful movie. Thank you! This seems to be a high-quality copy, too. I watched it on an awfulVHS rip.
Does this film contain depictions of actual ‘gremlins’ and, if so, are they the speilberg jew versions?
Commentaries are with (1) writer/director Alex Proyas, and (2) with composer Peter Miller and editor Craig Wood.
