Does anyone here know the differences between the DVD release and the Theatrical cut on the Blu Ray?

Very, very little difference, as far as I can tell (though I didn’t download both.) It’s a the 35-second runtime difference, so you can trust that it’s not a Director’s Cut of difference (there is no DC out there,) so it would come down to content. And the content should be mostly the same, as there wasn’t a chopped-up version of Gunhed.

Instead, what we’re dealing with is oddities of localization. On the film set, the choice was made to have everybody use their natural language; English speakers spoke English, Japanese actors spoke Japanese. In the rare cases where films do this, they dub out the half that doesn’t fit the release region, and that’s what the “International Version” of the movie did to have all dialog in English. In Japan, however, they kept the original dialog tracks and just subtitled over whomever wasn’t speaking Japanese.

So, there’s that, and also some minor changes to title cards and credits and on-screen logos (adding in those 35 seconds.) As far as I can tell, that’s it… Oh, and weirdly, the international version has director Masato Harada’s name taken off for an Alan Smithee card. Technically, it’s a different cut of the film, and none of those changes would have been included in the Japanese BD of the movie, so there you go.

Check them if you download both, but I think that’s all that separates the two. Of course, the BD version is bound to look much better, if you have the 8.8GBs to spare.
