I used to have to search around a dozen different sites for these types of movies. You have helped me immensly

Excellent film post. This one and ‘Threads’ from 1983 showed that the BBC was capable of delivering hard-hitting topical dramas – before it became bloated with cash and content to peddle banal sitcoms and dance shows for elderly middle-class ladies in Cheltenham and Tunbridge Wells.

    Wow !
This has always been one of my favourite Watkins, along with Culloden, Punishment Park and La Commune.
If you are planning to post more Peter Watkins, you’ll make a lot of us very happy !
    Thanks

From IMDB – intended as an hour-long program to air on BBC 1, but it was deemed too intense and violent to broadcast.

BBC actually ‘shelved’ this movie for a number of years before they finally released it for wide-screen viewing. Compared to ‘Testament’, ‘The Day After’ and a few other movies of this ilk – ‘The War Game’ is still considered to be one of the best ‘Nuclear-scenario’ movies, to this day… Thank for this post, RL!!
