Never seen this before, but discovered it thanks to Rarelust. I’m rather fond of Alien in L.A., which this is “sort of” the sequel to.

Why “sort of”? Well, it’s actually a VERY strange film to watch, because it’s two films spliced together into one load of nonsense!

Rusty Lemorande’s Journey to the Center of the Earth forms the first 35 mins of the film (and some re-purposed dream scenes) while footage from Albert Pyun’s unfinished Alien from L.A. sequel form the back end 40mins… with ten minutes of clips used to pad the credits at the end.

Neither Lemorande nor Pyun’s film is complete, but I assume they got two of the stars of the former to do reshoots in the latter’s sets in order to turn two unfinished movies into one.

The “highlight” is either the two minutes of random action movie (Delta Force, I think?) footage used to pad one scene, the way the sister character totally vanishes, or the terribly dubbed way the older brother Richard leaves the film halfway through.

Unavoidably a terrible movie, since it’s not even a single movie but rather a desperate (likely dodgy!) studio attempt to save two unfinished projects, but fascinating to watch.

I’d love to read the scripts to one or both of the original films, if anyone knows if they exist!

Do you know if this movieis a result of Canon Films filing for bankruptcy, or a result of their “production style” that didnt ensure that the funds would be their to finish a film if a previous films gross was poor.
I can only wonder how much Lifeforces large budget and box office flop affected the movies they already had in production.
Toby Hooper said the 2 of the 3 films he was signed on to direct, his remake of the 1950s “Invaders from Mars”, was incredibly stressful due to Cannon repeatedly lowering the budget while they were filming, that film was made at the same time these two films were mashed into one.
